Ash Garth Cottage and the Long House are part of Westfield Farm which was built in the late 17 Century.

The farm and all of its buildings are Grade II listed. In recent years the whole of Westfield Farm has been fully renovated to a high standard.

Ash Garth Cottage has beautiful views from the sitting room windows over the Howardian Hills

and has been awarded a Five Star Gold listing with Visit England.

New to the holiday market this year (April 2021) is The Long House which faces east over the village green, open fields and farmland.

Located in the small hamlet of Little Barugh (pronounced Barf) , this is an ideal position to explore The Dales, The Moors, East Coast and York itself.

To the west we face The Howardian Hills which are an AONB, nestled between the North York Moors National Park, the Yorkshire Wolds and the Vale of York. It is a unique and captivating landscape with its well-wooded rolling countryside, patchwork of arable and pasture fields, scenic villages and historic country houses with classic parkland landscapes.

Spring at Westfield Farm

We have two natural ponds for these moorhen's to nest around and on, last year between several breeding pairs the produced 17 lovely chicks which have since fledged the nest to make way for the next generations. Perhaps you will be lucky enough to see the new ones this year ?

Our grandson has built a custom made Moorhen Hotel for the middle of the large pond which we hope to see fully booked this summer.
